Berries and ancestral knowledge: an inspiring gathering on Innu territory – FNQLSDI

From February 20 to 22, 2026, the “Climate Change and Berries” gathering took place. An event centred on issues related to berries, climate change, Elders’ knowledge, and the role of women in cultural transmission. The gathering, led by Yvette Bellefleur and Kathleen Mark, two Innu women from the First Nation of Ekuanitshit, brought together traditional knowledge and scientific expertise while identifying paths forward for the years to come.
