The Canadian Council of Business Leaders Against Anti-Black Systemic Racism announced its Board of Directors and Committee Chairs this week, with Brock University President Gervan Fearon named Co-Chair of the Education Committee.
He will serve as Co-Chair alongside Carl Everton James, Jean Augustine Chair in Education, Community and Diaspora at York University.
The BlackNorth Initiative was created by the Canadian Council of Business Leaders Against Anti-Black Systemic Racism to combat anti-Black systemic racism in corporate Canada. The initiative challenges senior Canadian business leaders to commit their companies to specific actions and targets designed to end anti-Black systemic racism and create opportunities for all of those in the underrepresented Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) communities.
In total, a team of 12 Committee Chairs were announced this week to enable and oversee specific, high priority workstreams.
