Minister Gull-Masty spoke with CBC’s Saskatoon Morning on Monday
Time is running out for the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) to satisfy Ottawa’s concerns about its fiscal management, says the federal minister responsible for funding the organization.
The FSIN and Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) are tangling over a forensic audit that identified $28.7 million in expenses and other “questionable spending” not supported by documents. Ottawa asked FSIN to prove the spending was above board or repay it.
“If I’m not able to see that constructive next step of information being provided, then that window of time will close soon,” ISC Minister Mandy Gull-Masty said on CBC’s Saskatoon Morning on Monday.
