Call for members for medical board of inquiry extended

The Department of Health is extending the call for qualified applicants interested in serving the medical board of inquiry (BOI) under the Medical Profession Act. The board is appointed upon request by the review officer, to inquire into a complaint or information and review evidence related to allegations made against medical practitioners licensed in Nunavut.

The qualified individuals who can apply to form the board are as follows:

  • A medical practitioner who is eligible to practice medicine in a province or territory of Canada, but not in Nunavut.

The board runs independently and holds hearings to reach a final decision based on evidence presented. The board could require several meetings to establish rules of order and preliminary work.

Members with diverse skills, experiences and backgrounds are an asset.

An honorarium is paid as per directive 810, GN Financial Administration Manual.
