People are encouraged to submit nominations for this year’s Nova Scotia Human Rights Awards.
The commission presents awards annually to Nova Scotians whose work advances human rights in the province.
“Recognizing human rights champions shines a light on the important work of those prioritizing justice, fairness, dignity and inclusion,” said Joseph Fraser, Director and CEO of the commission. “We’re asking Nova Scotians to recognize those among us who intervene, step up, speak out and push for recognition of the rights of all people.”
People can nominate individual Nova Scotians and groups who have demonstrated excellence in this area until November 1.

The 2024 Nova Scotia Human Rights Awards will be presented in Halifax on Tuesday, December 10, to mark the United Nations International Human Rights Day.

Nominations for the Nova Scotia Human Rights Awards are open year-round, with a public call issued in early autumn.
