The Maskwacis Parents Place is a valuable support program the Samson Cree Nation’s Integrated Family Services. The program offers a range of resources and services to parents and families across the four nations of the Maskwacis Cree. Meet a Community Champion Carmella Cutknife from The Maskwacis Parents Place.
Carmella Cutknife is a nehiyaw iskwew (Cree woman) from Samson Cree Nation (Treaty 6) in Alberta, Canada. She has worked with children and families in a grassroots setting since 2000. In 2018, she became the coordinator for Maskwacis Parents Place and now leads the Indigenous Early Intervention program serving the four First Nations of Maskwacis: Samson (Nipisihkopahk), Ermineskin (Neyaskweyak), Louis Bull (Kispatinahk), and Montana (Ahkamihk), with an approximate population of 20,000 members.
