Confederation College SUCCI Wellness Centre, Minowaadiziiwin to Reopen July 27

THUNDER BAY, ON, July 20, 2020 – With the recent announcement by the government of Ontario that the province has entered Stage 3, gymnasiums are now able to open. As a result, Confederation College is pleased to announce that its SUCCI Wellness Centre, Minowaadiziiwin will reopen to existing members on Monday, July 27, 2020.

With government requirements for reopening, and Confederation’s continued commitment to the health and safety of its College community, operations will be limited and have been adjusted as outlined below.

The below operational plan will remain in effect until August 31, 2020 unless otherwise noted. An update will be provided to the College community and Wellness Centre members to outline what will take place after that date, or if any changes to operation are required before then. Confederation College looks forward to welcoming its members back to campus and appreciates everyone’s cooperation in following safety and usage guidelines.

The Wellness Centre reopening plan is summarized below. For full details, visit www.confederationcollege.ca/wellness-centre.

  • Limited hours of operation (see website for details)
  • Access for existing members only
  • Some equipment will not be available for use at this time (see website for details)
  • Limited capacity for members – maximum of 25 members on site at any time
  • Increased safety and cleaning protocols will be followed including:
    • Anyone accessing the facility must wear a mask as per Confederation College policy and the Thunder Bay District Health Unit directive.
    • Following every one hour of member activity, staff will spend 30 minutes cleaning/disinfecting the facility to prepare for the next workout period
    • Members must wipe down equipment BEFORE and AFTER each use
    • Hand sanitizer stations will be available in multiple locations and members are asked to sanitize before entering each workout area
    • Member screening for COVID-19 symptoms will take place upon each entry. Anyone with symptoms will not be granted access. Members should not come to campus/the facility if experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Appointments are required to access the Wellness Centre (book online or by calling (807) 475-6398)
    • Maximum of single one-hour time slot per day; can book up to one week in advance
    • Must cancel appointment at least one hour in advance of booking start time or member may lose booking privileges
    • Members who do not book their visit in advance may be granted access only if capacity permits
    • Members must exit the facility at the end of their scheduled appointment time, regardless of their arrival time
  • Confederation College is unable to offer community group bookings, new memberships and day passes at this time
