Dancing, eating together to champion reconciliation in Cape Breton – Penticton Herald

It’s been just over ten years since the Truth and Reconciliation Commission released its report that included 94 calls to action. Canadians everywhere are encouraged to take steps to enhance respect and empathy for Indigenous people in the light of our collective colonial history of hurt and trauma caused to Indigenous people in the past and present.

Last week, the Cape Breton branch of the Elizabeth Fry Society put words into action by hosting a Reconciliation Mawio’mi that attracted the participation of several dozen dancers and supporters. The event was emceed by Membertou’s Jeff Ward.
