FMA Amendments: Positive Change for First Nation Property Taxation

In June 2015, amendments to the First Nations Fiscal Management Act (FMA) were passed by Parliament and given Royal Assent. The passage of this legislation was the culmination of a sixyear effort by First Nations, First Nations institutions, First Nation tax administrators, and taxpayers. The amendments are expected to come into force in 2016, along with corresponding amendments to several FMA Regulations.
