As Treaty No. 6 approaches its 150th anniversary, a delegation will travel to London to affirm Treaty relationship with the Crown

On Wednesday, March 11, Confederacy of Treaty No. 6 First Nations Grand Chief Joey Pete and Louis Bull Tribe Chief Desmond Bull will be part of a seven-member Treaty No. 6 delegation meeting with His Majesty, King Charles III at Buckingham Palace. This visit will affirm the Treaty relationship with the Crown and assert Treaties 1-11 are sacred agreements intended to last as long as the sun shines, the grass grows and the rivers flow. A formal invitation will also be extended to His Majesty to attend the 150th Anniversary of Treaty No. 6 Celebrations. His attendance at this event will be a powerful demonstration of the Crown’s commitment to the Treaty relationship.

The audience with His Majesty is an opportunity to discuss the Crown’s obligation to protect and uphold Treaty against separatist threats and to remind the King that our relationship is not with provinces or Canada – it is with the Crown. Treaties are recognized in international law and any attempt to override them is a violation of the original agreements made between First Nations and the Crown.
