Indigenomics Institute Launches National Reconciliation Action Planning Hub to Drive Indigenous Economic Outcomes and Self-Determination

New Hub Will Accelerate Corporate, Government, Organizational, and Institutional Partnerships Aligned with UNDRIP and the TRC to Build Indigenous Economic Outcomes

June 9, 2025 – Victoria, B.C. — The Indigenomics Institute  is excited to announce the launch of Canada’s first dedicated Indigenomics Reconciliation Action Planning Hub (“the Hub”) — a national initiative designed to embed high-impact Indigenous economic outcomes in Reconciliation Action Plans (RAPs) to  support Indigenous economic self-determination and leadership as a driving force in Indigenous economic growth and a vital contributor to the future strength and prosperity of the Canadian economy.

The Hub is grounded in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action 92, which calls upon the corporate sector to advance meaningful Indigenous economic participation and partnership, and in the principles of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), which affirms Indigenous Peoples’ rights to self-determined economic development in accordance with their own priorities and self-determination.

The RAP Hub is a practical tool to help translate commitment into action  and that  equip corporate Canada, government, organizations, and institutional partners to contribute meaningfully to Indigenous economic self-determination and shared value creation.”

The scale of Indigenous economic activity has now surpassed the $100 billion milestone — signaling powerful momentum for future growth. The Institute now calls on partners across sectors to focus on building the next horizon of Indigenous economic value — with Indigenous Nations, businesses, and leaders shaping the future economy on their own terms.

The Indigenomics RAP Hub will provide:

• Provide practical tools, guidance, and learning opportunities to help partners design, implement, and evaluate effective Reconciliation Action Plans (RAPs).
• A benchmarking framework to ensure RAPs deliver direct, measurable Indigenous economic outcomes — including Indigenous equity ownership, capital access, procurement leadership, and innovation leadership.
• A knowledge exchange and advisory network to advance high-impact economic reconciliation practices.
• Curated case studies and economic metrics to help partners evaluate performance, understand what works, and drive continuous improvement in advancing Indigenous economic activity and reconciliation outcomes.
• Tools to align RAPs with UNDRIP and TRC Call to Action 92, embedding Indigenous rights, self-determination, and jurisdiction into all economic partnerships.

The Hub will support:

• Support the inclusion of long-term targets and measurable outcomes within RAPs that contribute to sustained growth in Indigenous economic activity, leadership, and intergenerational wealth creation.
• Increased Indigenous access to capital, investment platforms, and ownership opportunities.
• The development and application of Indigenous-led evaluation frameworks to increase the ability to evaluate and measure Indigenous economic activity and Indigenous economic reconciliation outcomes across corporate, government, organizational, and institutional partnerships.
• The identification and tracking of clear, consistent economic metrics — including Indigenous equity participation, procurement spend, employment and leadership pathways, and community investment — to provide transparent benchmarks for progress.
• Capacity-building for corporate, government, organizational, and institutional partners in applying robust, transparent, and repeatable evaluation practices within their RAPs, fostering continuous improvement and accountability.
• Advancement of RAP models that foster nation-to-nation economic relationships, treaty-aligned wealth creation, and Indigenous economic self-determination.
