Measles vaccinations for 2026 Arctic Winter Games

Press Release

January 9, 2026

Planning to attend the 2026 Arctic Winter Games? Check your measles vaccination status.

The games are in Whitehorse, Yukon, from March 8-15, 2026. Should there be a measles exposure at the games, participants who cannot provide proof of immunization will be required to isolate in Whitehorse for 21 days.

Participants and visitors are encouraged to ensure their measles immunizations are up to date and bring a copy of your records with you.

Team Nunavut is recommending the following steps:

  • Verify your immunization status. Contact your local health centre or public health unit to confirm that you are up-to-date with your measles vaccine and to request a copy of your records.
  • Get immunized if necessary. If catch-up doses are required, they must be received two weeks prior to travel.
  • Bring proof of immunization.

Team Nunavut athletes, coaches, youth ambassadors, cultural performers, support staff and volunteers are strongly encouraged to provide proof of immunization as part of the registration process.

Measles is a highly contagious virus that can cause serious illness. Atii Aksut – let’s help keep everyone safe!
