Media Advisory. September 8, 2014
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA – Members of the media and the public are invited to attend a one-hour briefing on the proposed Site C Dam Project hosted by Gwen Johansson, Mayor of the District of Hudson’s Hope. This event marks the first time local governments, First Nations, policy specialists and Peace Valley residents will gather to brief the public on Site C with a focus on three key subjects:
1. the need to implement the recommendation of the Joint Review Panel to refer Site C to the BC Utilities Commission,
2. the impact Site C would have on First Nations rights, and
3. the impact Site C would have on the agricultural bread basket of the Peace.
The BC government is now considering a confidential report of the BC Environmental Assessment Office and is expected to decide by October 22nd, 2014 on whether an environmental assessment certificate should be issued for the proposed $7.9 billion Site C Dam Project.
