Mental Wellness and Addictions Clinician

Lennox Island First Nation Health Program

General Description:

The primary purpose of the Mental Wellness and Addictions Clinician is to provide culturally competent, culturally safe and community-based mental health and addictions care to Lennox Island First Nation community members. This position will be part-time/contractual, August 2016- March 2018 with the possibility of renewal and permanence. Salary and work schedule will be determined based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct service to children, youth and families regarding a wide range of family issues;
  • Provide individual, family and group therapy sessions to community members using a variety of modalities;
  • Treatment planning and on-going service coordination as a member of the client’s multidisciplinary team;
  • Develop goals-orientated plans with clients to enhance all aspects of the individual’s life;
  • Maintain clinical records and documentation;
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care planning;

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, counseling or a related field and eligible for certification/membership in a registered professional association. Minimum of two years experience providing clinical treatment to children and families;
  • Knowledge of the impacts of inter-generational trauma and the experiences of residential school survivors and their descendants;
  • Proven experience in holistic treatment approach and applying wellness and resilience knowledge to therapeutic work;
  • Well-developed communication, analytical and case-management skills, as well as a commitment to providing quality client service by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships;
  • Applicants must exercise a high standard of professionalism with sound judgment and also have the ability to work independently and as part of a team;
