Milton Logistics Hub Project: Federal Funding Allocated for the Environmental Assessment

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency has allocated $203,122.90 to four applicants to assist their participation in the environmental assessment by a review panel of the proposed Milton Logistics Hub Project in Ontario.

This funding is allocated through the Participant Funding Program administered by the Agency. A funding review committee, independent of the review panel process, was established to assess the requests for funding.
The funding will assist recipients to review and comment on the Review Panel Terms of Reference and on the Environmental Impact Statement, and to prepare for and participate in the public hearing.
The funding will also assist recipients in commenting on the potential conditions that would be required, if the project is allowed to proceed. Aboriginal groups will also receive funding to review the Panel Report.
Quick Facts
- The Canadian National Railway Company is proposing the construction and operation of a logistics hub, designed to transfer containers between trucks and railcars. The project would include a railway yard with more than 20 kilometres of track and be located in Milton, Ontario, about 50 kilometres west of Toronto.
- On July 20, 2015, the Minister of the Environment referred the environmental assessment of the proposed Milton Logistics Hub Project to an independent review panel.
