NFN: Transit Study Engagement Session

Nipissing First Nation recently ran a community transit survey with Blaise Transit from August 11 to September 5, 2025. Your answers helped us decide what to test in the next phase of our Transit Feasibility Study, and we want you to stay involved.
We encourage everyone to come to our upcoming engagement sessions so we can keep building a transit plan together:

Following the presentation, Blaise Transit will lead a Feedback and Q&A discussion, giving community members the opportunity to ask questions and share input.
The survey shows that many people still rely on private vehicles or family rides to get around. Without local transit, some residents cannot reach important places like work, school, medical care, or shopping.
What You Told Us
Where most people travel
- Most trips follow the Highway 17 corridor
- Ontario Northland has no stops in NFN, even though 22% of residents use the service today
Barriers
- Cost, distance, safety, and mobility issues are the biggest challenges.
- 3% of residents have no way to reach certain activities at all.
What most people want
- 52% prefer hybrid service (scheduled trips and on-demand rides)
- Peak travel times during the week: 33% in the morning and 27% in the evening
- 43% need door-to-door service or can only walk very short distances
These results show that our transit plan must be affordable, accessible, and flexible. We are now testing fixed, on-demand, and hybrid models through simulations so we can bring forward a community-led solution.
