‘It’s going to be a beautiful space,’ HRIC says of revamped King George on Gage Avenue North.

When Audrey Davis recently walked through the former King George school in east Hamilton, the more-than-century-old heritage landmark eyed for a new Indigenous friendship centre and affordable housing showed its age.

The shuttered edifice on Gage Avenue North near the football stadium seemed more rundown than the last time she visited a few years ago, says Davis, executive director of the Hamilton Regional Indian Centre.
