Ottawa, October 31, 2016 –
Members of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Indigenous and Northern Affairs (“the Committee”) will hold a public hearing November 2, 2016 in Vancouver, British Columbia at the:
Delson / Denman Room, Coast Plaza Hotel & Suites, 1763 Comox St., Vancouver, BC, V6G 1P6
The Committee will hold a public hearing to better understand Indigenous experiences related to suicide as a part of its study into the crisis of suicide facing First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples and communities. Committee Chair Mr. Andy Fillmore (Halifax) will be joined by Committee Vice-Chair, Mr. David Yurdiga (Fort McMurray-Cold Lake), Mr. Mike Bossio (Hastings-Lennox and Addington), Ms. Jenny Kwan (Vancouver East), Ms. Cathy McLeod (Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo), and Mr. Don Rusnak (Thunder Bay-Rainy River).
The Committee will continue to study the issue.
Forty-five minutes will be reserved for members of the public to present their views November 2, 2016 from 2:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
