Minister of Arts, Culture and Status of Women Tanya Fir issued the following statement on the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia:
“There is no place for hate or intolerance in Alberta.
“On International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, we reaffirm our commitment to upholding the values of respect and understanding that define us as a province.
“Alberta’s government continues supporting the 2SLGBTQQIA+ community with meaningful investments for essential programs, services and community-led initiatives. This includes launching the 2SLGBTQQIA+ Resource Hub and engaging the community to inform Alberta’s 10-year Strategy to End Gender-based Violence.
“Through the Stars of Alberta Volunteer Awards Breaking Barriers category, we also recognize and celebrate individuals dedicated to advocating for the 2SLGBTQQIA+ community and fighting discrimination. Nominations are open until June 30, and we encourage Albertans to nominate someone working to build strong, vibrant and more diverse communities.
“Alberta’s government is committed to fostering a province where everyone can live without fear and thrive.”
Madame Tanya Fir, ministre des Arts, de la Culture et de la Condition féminine, a fait la déclaration suivante à l’occasion de la Journée internationale contre l’homophobie, la biphobie et la transphobie :
« La haine et l’intolérance n’ont pas leur place en Alberta.
« En cette journée internationale contre l’homophobie, la biphobie et la transphobie, nous réaffirmons notre engagement à l’égard de la promotion des valeurs de respect et de compréhension qui définissent notre province.
« Le gouvernement de l’Alberta continue à appuyer la communauté 2SLGBTQQIA+ en réalisant des investissements concrets dans des programmes et des services essentiels, et dans des initiatives communautaires, y compris la création du carrefour de ressources 2SLGBTQQIA+ et la consultation publique qui a servi à orienter la Stratégie décennale de l’Alberta visant à mettre fin à la violence fondée sur le genre.
« Par ailleurs, la catégorie Briser les barrières des Prix des bénévoles Stars of Alberta nous permet de reconnaître et de célébrer les personnes qui s’engagent à défendre la communauté 2SLGBTQQIA+ et à lutter contre la discrimination. La période de mise en candidature se termine le 30 juin, et nous encourageons les Albertaines et les Albertains à proposer la candidature de personnes qui contribuent à bâtir des communautés fortes, dynamiques et plus inclusives.
« Le gouvernement de l’Alberta s’engage à faire de la province un lieu où chacun et chacune peut vivre et s’épanouir sans crainte. »
