Tobacco & Wellness Community Challenge Winner

HALLENGE WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT

Congratulations to the PASQUA FIRST NATION on winning the School of Tobacco and Wellness Challenge between Pasqua First Nation and Standing Buffalo First Nation. The challenge goal was to reduce tobacco consumption with the least amount of waist gain. The program allowed participants from each Nation to learn about tobacco, nutrition information for quitting, quitting/reduction techniques and the opportunity to grow natural tobacco. The groups met once a week for 12 weeks in each Nation. Each Nation was supplied with growing materials to grow their own tobacco, all materials are left with the Nation to continue growing tobacco. The Pasqua Circle of Care Centre will receive $1500 to go towards a community health initiative and the Standing Buffalo First Nation Health Station will receive $500. Thank you to everyone who participated!!
