Job Description
Under the supervision of the Lead Hand, the operator will be required to safely transport wood hog fuel from the LMG Chipping Plant to the AV Cell Mill.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Orientation and safety training that is required
- Operate and drive tractor trailer over 4500 kg to transport goods and materials
- Plan trip logistics and obtain required documentation to transport goods
- Perform pre-trip, in-route and post-trip inspection of vehicle systems, equipment and accessories such as tires, lights and turning signals, brakes and cold storage
- Ensure cargo is secured properly in accordance with safety requirements and follow safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
- Communicate with dispatcher and/or other drivers using communication devices
Education
- Completion of Secondary School
- Completion of an accredited driver training course of up to three months’ duration, through a vocational school or community college.
- Valid Class 1 license
- Air Brake Endorsement
- Transportation of dangerous goods certification
Assets
- First Aid would be an asset
- Fluency in French, both oral and written
- Fluency in Mi’gmaq
