Policing Media Release – Important Seizure in Kangiqsujuaq

Kuujjuaq, Québec, May 27, 2016 – Public-police collaboration in Kangiqsujuaq led the Kativik Regional Police Force (KRPF) to an important seizure of hashish oil in that community earlier this week. The amount of drugs seized is the second most important in the region after a similar police operation took place in Salluit last March.

On March 26, 2016, the KRPF obtained a tele-warrant that led to the seizure of 800 vials of hashish oil. The KRPF also proceeded with the arrest of a suspect for possession for the purpose of trafficking. The individual has been released from custody on a promise to appear and undertaking.

The value of the KRPF seizures is approximately $48,000. As of now, the street value of hashish oil is estimated to be $60 per vial.

Nunavimmiut may communicate confidential information on illegal activities to the KRPF via the toll free number 1-800-711-1800. Rewards of up to $2000 may be paid for information.
