The First Nations Tax Administrators Association (FNTAA) is hosting its 23rd Annual National Forum on First Nations Property Taxation on September 29 & 30, 2016 at the Tzeachten Community Centre in Chilliwack, BC.
The conference brings together leading experts in fields of Property Taxation, Lands Management and Economic Development. Representatives from the Fiscal Institutes will be on hand to discuss the latest developments of the First Nations Fiscal Management Act. The conference provides an opportunity to network with colleagues while enjoying a golf tournament and dinner reception.
Highlights on the agenda this year include:
- Property Transfer Tax Panel: learn about property transfer tax opportunities under the FMA and hear from First Nations who have implemented this tax.
- Guest speaker from the Ngāi Tahu Research Centre in New Zealand: learn about the Maori and how our systems are similar and where they are different.
- Property Tax 101 Panel: the FNTAA Board of Directors host a discussion about the property administration tax cycle. Senior Tax Administrators offer advice and guidance in best practices.
- Presentations from the First Nations Tax Commission, the Tax Administration System, the First Nations Financial Management Board, the First Nations Finance Authority and the Tulo Centre of Indigenous Economics.
The First Nations Tax Administrators Association is committed to advancing the professional management of First Nations property taxation systems.
Tulo Centre graduates could be eligible to become a Certified First Nations Tax Administrator.
