Carmacks homicide charge upgraded to first degree

On September 28, 2017, Yukon RCMP arrested and charged 27-year-old Tyler Aaron Skookum with second degree murder in connection to the June 19th death of a 57-year-old Carmacks man.
Following further investigation by Major Crime Unit investigators, the charge was upgraded to first degree murder.
Mr. Skookum remains in custody. His next appearance in Whitehorse Territorial Court is scheduled for October 27th, 2017 at 9:30 a.m.
