MMIWG: Official Statement – Montreal Hearing

VANCOUVER, Dec. 1, 2017 – We want to be very clear – we have previously identified Montreal as a location, amongst others, that will host a hearing and our intent has not changed.

The wisest way to move forward is to extend the process to truly honour and respect the families that have suffered in silence for too long. We are calling upon the Canadian Government to grant an extension.

Together we have an opportunity to build a foundation that allows Indigenous women and girls to reclaim their power and place. We will continue to work towards fulfilling our mandate in a meaningful and culturally appropriate way.

Our Women and Girls are Sacred.
