Albertans are invited to share their opinions about their needs, expectations and priorities accessing online government services in an online survey.

Whether managing benefits, finding affordable housing and child care or renewing a driver’s licence, Albertans are using digital solutions more than ever.

Alberta’s technology and innovation sector is a driving force in the province’s economic diversification. It is critical that government keeps pace with technology, so Alberta’s government is developing a digital strategy to modernize its services. The strategy will harness innovation and digital technologies across government to deliver better, faster and smarter services.

In addition to the public online survey, Alberta’s government will reach out to technology industry leaders, post-secondary institutions, health organizations and Indigenous communities to hear their thoughts on how they can better interact with Alberta’s government departments. Insights gathered will help shape Alberta’s Digital Strategy.

The survey will be available for Albertans to complete until Jan. 24.

Alberta’s Digital Strategy will guide the province in modernizing technical teams, processes and the government’s overall approach to technology and innovation.
Online services save Albertans time and money by eliminating the need to book time off work and make travel and child-care arrangements.
There are currently more than 70 online government services available to Albertans any time, anywhere, using any device.
- Since spring 2019, 30 government services have moved online.
- Currently, Technology and Innovation is working with other departments to bring more than 20 additional services online in the coming year.
- From January to December 2021, use of government services through alberta.ca surged by more than 300 per cent, with access from a mobile device up by 500 per cent.
- Recent research shows 75 per cent of Canadians indicate that government services should be available online.
