National Public Alert System test in Nunavut

The Department of Community Services’ Emergency Management division is advising Nunavummiut that a test of the National Alert Ready System will take place on May 7, 2025.

The test will take place at 2:00 p.m. EDT, 1:00 p.m. CDT and 12:00 p.m. MDT, via cellular, TV and radio. The test alert message reads: “This is a test of the National public alerting system / Nunavut alerting system issued by Nunavut Emergency Management. This is only a test. If this had been an actual emergency or threat, you would now hear instructions that would assist you to protect you and your family.” The test will last for approximately 30 seconds.

Nunavut Emergency Management continues to partner with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police ‘V’ Division as the primary users of this system to ensure community safety. This test will ensure the appropriate partners continue to have access to the necessary tools to keep Nunavummiut safe.
