Ten community projects receive funding to support Yukon youth

The Government of Yukon is providing $42,000 to 10 community projects through the Youth Investment Fund. This funding will help provide local youth with opportunities to engage in healthy, educational and recreational activities that promote personal growth and wellbeing.

The Youth Investment Fund provides financial support to short-term projects aimed at youth under 19 years of age who typically have fewer opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities, as well as those who may experience discrimination.

This year’s funding supports the following projects:

BYTE – Empowering Youth Society’s Skate Comp 2025
Freedom Trails’ Therapeutic Horseback Riding and Ground Lesson
Marsh Lake Community Society’s Rural Youth Employment program
Music Yukon’s Arts in the Park
Town of Faro’s Campbell Region Summer Sports Program
Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in’s Trapper Education Program and Northern Indigenous Youth Connection Conference
Village of Teslin’s Circus Camp
Yukon Assembly of First Nations’ Indigenous Post-Secondary Graduation Ceremony
Yukon Badminton Association’s Youth Engagement Project

Projects funded through the program help provide Yukon youth with healthy opportunities to build self-esteem, make positive lifestyle choices and create social or recreational opportunities.

We know that extracurricular activities are important opportunities for young people. They help build confidence, learn new skills and build a sense of community. Quick facts

The Youth Investment Fund provides funding to qualifying community groups twice a year. Eligible groups can apply for funding between $501 and $5,000.
Common project themes include youth leadership development and training initiatives; substance use prevention; peer mentoring; skill development programs; recreation and arts-based activities.
The application deadline for the next round of funding is October 1, 2025.
The Youth Investment Fund is administered by the Youth Directorate, a branch of the Executive Council Office.
