Trade Winds to Success, an Alberta-based provider of construction training aimed at Indigenous populations, has launched the organization’s first-ever electrician training program for women.
The new program looks to both address Alberta’s construction labour gap and diversify its workforce by bringing Indigenous women together in a supportive, hands-on learning environment focused on safety, technical expertise, mentorship and real-world application.
“This year marks an important milestone with our first women’s Electrician Training program. These participants are not only gaining technical skills, they are leading change in an industry that needs their talent, leadership and perspective,” said Trade Winds to Success’ executive director, Shannon McCarthy. “When women are included in construction, welding shops, and electrical crews, the entire industry benefits.”
