Gaming Working Group announces community engagement on proposed electronic gaming device expansion

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) Gaming Working Group, wishes to inform the community of the launch of an engagement campaign designed to gather community feedback on the proposed increase for Electronic Gaming Devices (EGD) permits.

This engagement campaign will take place throughout May 2026 and is intended to provide Kahnawa’kehró:non with clear, accurate information and meaningful opportunities to share their perspectives on strengthening Kahnawà:ke’s gaming industry. The engagement will include in-person kiosks, on- air discussions, stakeholder sessions, a special Community Meeting, and a dedicated email channel for written feedback.

The engagement activities schedule includes:

Community Kiosks – Both sessions scheduled for 1pm – 4pm

⦁ Community Kiosk 1 – Wednesday, May 6 in the Kahnawà:ke Services Complex (Caisse) Lobby

⦁ Community Kiosk 2 – Wednesday, May 13 in the Kahnawà:ke Services Complex (Caisse) Lobby

Special Community Meeting

⦁ Sunday, May 24 from 9am – 12pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Mohawk Branch 219 – Kahnawà:ke

Information Distribution & Radio Discussions

⦁ Project progress and discussion on gaming is scheduled for Friday, May 8, from 12pm-1pm on K103.7 FM

⦁ A second K103.7FM appearance to discuss the project and reminder for the special community meeting is scheduled for Friday, May 15, from 12pm-1pm
⦁ Dissemination of 2023 Market Analysis and webpage launch to be announced in the near future.
⦁ Written Feedback: Community members can provide email submission feedback throughout the engagement period at feedback@mck.ca

*Feedback gathered through this process will be reviewed by the KGWG and used to inform recommendations to the Council of Chiefs regarding potential EGD expansion and possible expenditure priorities*

This work is informed by a 2023 market analysis by The Innovation Group, which found that the local market could support additional EGDs beyond current supply levels. Any future decisions will be guided by community input, jurisdictional considerations, and a commitment to responsible regulatory oversight, including ongoing public safety and compliance measures.

An engagement summary will be shared publicly in the first week of June 2026, including where to access the report.

Updates, background information, and engagement materials (including key messages and frequently asked questions) will be posted on the MCK website at www.kahnawake.com. Additional details will be shared through MCK communications channels as they become available.

The KGWG brings together representatives of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke and the Kahnawà:ke Gaming Commission to support long-term strategies for the sustainability, competitiveness, and evolution of Kahnawà:ke’s gaming sector, while identifying emerging opportunities and prioritizing community benefit.
