QIA Board Appoints Community Director for Igloolik

Iqaluit, Nunavut, May 21, 2026 – The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) Board of Directors has appointed Joanna Quassa as Community Director for Igloolik

The nomination was made during yesterday’s virtual meeting of the QIA Board of Directors. Joanna will serve in the role until December 2026, when the Igloolik Community Director position will be included in the next regular election.

The vacancy was created following the passing of former Igloolik Community Director, Louis Tapardjuk.

Joanna will join the QIA Board of Directors at its upcoming meeting in Iqaluit this June. QIA is pleased to welcome her to the Board and looks forward to working together in service to the community of Igloolik and the Qikiqtani region.
