Police Chief Myron Demkiw said several search warrants were executed across the city last week; Const. Marc Pinizzotto died during one operation.
A gun-for-hire network is behind several shootings in the GTA over the past several months, including the shooting at the U.S. consulate earlier in March, Chief Myron Demkiw announced at a news conference Tuesday.
The investigation involves at least six shooting incidents in the GTA linked to a nine-millimetre handgun and at least 21 shooting incidents in the GTA tied to a 45-calibre handgun, Demkiw said. Police recovered both guns during an operation last week, Demkiw said Tuesday, adding that that the firearms originated in the United States.
