The Future of Housing: Leaders gather to address urgent challenges facing British Columbia

Hon. Christine Boyle, Minister Responsible for Housing to virtually join 1,700+ delegates at the 2025 Housing Central Conference to tackle urgent challenges in housing

Vancouver, BC – Canada’s largest afordable housing conference will bring together leaders, innovators, and experts in the community housing sector to explore the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities shaping the future of housing. With a focus on collaboration and knowledge-sharing, the conference will feature a dynamic lineup of keynote speakers, interactive workshops, and networking sessions from November 17 to 19.

The conference will feature 120+ education sessions and internationally renowned keynote speakers who will deliver bold perspectives on community building and intergenerational living, Indigenous ways of knowing in contemporary architecture, the legacy of the residential school system, inclusive housing, and more.

The 32nd annual Housing Central Conference is jointly presented by BC Non-Proft Housing Association (BCNPHA), the Aboriginal Housing Management Association (AHMA) and the Co-operative Housing Federation of BC (CHF BC).

The conference will be attended by 1,700+ delegates from throughout B.C. and across Canada who are making a diference every day to ensure everyone has safe, secure and afordable housing.

“The 2025 Housing Central Conference is more than a gathering; it’s a driving force for real progress in housing,” said BCNPHA CEO Jill Atkey. “With uncertainty surrounding ongoing housing investment from senior levels of government, it’s more critical than ever that the sector gathers to learn from each other and continue the push to ensure everyone in BC has a safe, secure and afordable home.”

Conference highlights

  • Keynote speakers, including: Métis novelist, poet, and author for young people katherena vermette, in conversation with veteran broadcast journalist Shelagh Rogers; host of The Nature of Things (CBC) and award-winning science communicator Anthony Morgan; Antony Wood, director of the Masters in Tall Buildings and Vertical Urbanism; memoirist, journalist, educator, and activist, Harrison Mooney; and leading expert on change fuency Jay Kiew.
  • Educational sessions covering: solutions to Canada’s housing crisis, multicultural housing, community engagement, housing for women and gender diverse individuals, youth and seniors housing, and much more.
  • Art Expo on Wednesday, November 19 featuring the work of a diverse group of local artists and organizations that provide arts-related services and programming.
