Breaking Barriers – Thunder Bay Police Service

Press Release

Date Published: 2018-05-02

The Thunder Bay Police Service has launched a new page on our website which is designed to inform the public on the progress to reduce systemic barriers.

We recognize that systemic barriers exist between Indigenous people and the justice system which includes police. The work that goes into eliminating these barriers is an ongoing process. We have been strengthening our existing relationships within the community and listening to the concerns which have been raised.

The members of the Thunder Bay Police Service are dedicated to responding to the needs of everyone we serve. We need to continue on the path of building trust between our service and all members of our diverse community. We are committed to making a difference.

Acting Chief Sylvie Hauth describes the new page. “We feel that the public should be informed about the many projects, changes and efforts being made to build trust and to foster a positive, long term relationship with all of our community members.”

The new page can be found at www.thunderbaypolice.ca/breaking-barriers
