Press Release
May 20, 2026
The Department of Community Services invites Nunavut Inuit artists to submit proposals to present 2-4 large scale pieces of artwork at the ART021 Contemporary Art Fair during Shanghai Arts Week, November 12-15, 2026.
Your work will join the works of other artists from Yukon and Northwest Territories (NWT) in a display of pan-territorial Canadian Indigenous artwork.
A video component will also be developed and included in the project to ensure authentic storytelling, and the showcase area will be staffed by the Canadian Consulate Trade Commission.
Your work will also be available for sale at the event, with artists receiving 100 per cent of the listed price of sold work.
Applications will require 3-4 images of your work – either existing artworks, similar artworks to the ones to be produced, or conceptual drawings of proposed pieces. Artists will be selected in collaboration with other jurisdictions and partners to ensure a diversity of disciplines are showcased.
All applications are due by Friday, May 22, 2026.
For full rules and requirements visit the ART021 Contemporary Art Fair page on the Government of Nunavut website.
