Child and Family Well-Being Program seeking Member-at-Large

Press Release

February 4, 2025

The Moose Cree First Nation Child & Family Well-being department is seeking a candidate for a member at large to join the Child & Family Well-being Committee.

Moose Cree First Nation’s Child and Family Well-Being Program is looking for one (1) Community Member at Large for our committee as soon as possible. Moose Cree First Nation’s Child and Family Well-Being is a Program that has been working on building a new organization around the two (2) Laws that our Nation has passed.  As most people are aware Moose Cree First Nation ratified two (2) Laws under what was formerly known as Bill C 92.

Moose Cree First Nation has not triggered these Laws to date due to some processes that need to occur.  During this time, we are building the house or organization to take full jurisdiction over our families, children and youth that are involved with any Child Welfare Organization within every Province across Canada.

This is a very busy project which is focused on supporting the Director of Moose Cree First Nation’s Child and Family Well-Being Team.  The committee member will be working with the Director, Legal Team, Coordination Team and the Negotiation Team when called upon between Canada, Ontario and Moose Cree.  The committee member may work with the supervisors within this program when needed or with their teams.

Each applicant must:

  • Understand Child Welfare
  • Have knowledge on An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, youth and families (Formerly Bill C-92) and what jurisdiction means for Moose Cree First Nation
  • Have knowledge on Moose Cree First Nation’s Culture, Language & History

This is a very fast paced department within the building stages of a whole new organization for Moose Cree First Nation.  Infrastructure, policies, laws, submissions, negotiations with Canada and Ontario have been on-going for the last two (2) years and will continue until this new sector of Moose Cree First Nation is able to be completed.

If you are interested, please send your letter of interest to jennifer.cool@moosecree.com no later than February 14th, 2025.  Please provide us with a briefing on your expertise.
