A reportedly racially-motivated assault against a First Nations elementary student has forced the 11-year-old boy to transfer to a different school.

According to mother Melissa Johnson, her son Theo Obsorne, who attended Stony Brook Middle School in Steinbach, Man., a community of nearly 18,000 people an hour southeast of Winnipeg, was the target of bullying for some time before a Feb. 11 assault took place.

According to Johnson, there are reports from teachers dating back to December.
