Press Release
April 14, 2026
Regina, SK – The First Nations University of Canada (FNUniv) is proud to host its annual Spring Celebration Powwow from April 18–19, 2026, at the Brandt Centre, REAL District, welcoming community members, dancers, singers, and visitors from across the region and beyond.
This year’s powwow holds special significance as it takes place during FNUniv’s 50th anniversary year, marking five decades of Indigenous education, culture, and community.
The Spring Celebration Powwow is one of FNUniv’s most anticipated cultural events, bringing together generations to celebrate Indigenous traditions through song, dance, and ceremony. The event provides an opportunity for students, alumni, and the broader community to connect, share knowledge, and honour culture in a vibrant and inclusive environment.
“This powwow is a meaningful way for us to come together in celebration and reflection during our 50th year,” said Dr. Jacqueline Ottmann, President of FNUniv. “It honours who we are as a university and the communities we serve.”
The weekend will feature Grand Entries, competitive dancing, drum groups, and a marketplace showcasing Indigenous artisans and vendors. All are welcome to attend.
