Jaylene Neisa Delorme singles out principal in her convocation speech for her help

Jaylene Neisa Delorme was once told to “stay in her lane” because she didn’t have her Grade 12 diploma. On Friday, she got one.

Staff at the Chief Sunrise Education Centre on the Kátł’odeeche First Nation, near Hay River, N.W.T., roughly 200 kilometres southwest of Yellowknife, held a special ceremony for Neisa Delorme, 32, who is expecting twins close to the school’s planned graduation date.

Loved ones attended to celebrate the achievement of someone who’s been through a lot. Neisa Delorme dropped out of school as a teenager, struggled with addiction, then moved to Colombia in South America, where she learned Spanish and met her husband, Juan Neisa Guiral.
