Island Lake RCMP charge male with Second Degree Murder in weekend homicide

St. Theresa Point First Nation, Manitoba

On January 28, 2018, at approximately 12:15 am, Island Lake RCMP received a report that a female was taken to the St. Theresa Point Nursing Station. When she arrived at the Nursing Station, she was pronounced deceased.

Investigation revealed that the 35-year-old victim had been assaulted. Jonathan Wood, 34, was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder, Breach of Recognizance x 13 and Fail to Comply with Probation x 4. Wood remains in RCMP custody.

The RCMP Major Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Section are assisting with this ongoing investigation.
