Lesley Hampton, George Stroumboulopoulos, Michaëlle Jean, and others to join 250 Indigenous youth dancers at Outside Looking In

Special Guest Performers: Boogey The Beat, Logan Staats and Mattmac

(Toronto, ON), May 1, 2023— Outside Looking In announces an exciting lineup of special guests, collaborators and performers for its 16th Annual Showcase (Canada’s Largest Indigenous Youth Performance), including acclaimed Anishinaabe artist and fashion designer Lesley Hampton, George Stroumboulopoulos, former Governor General Michaëlle Jean, singer-songwriter Logan Staats and others.

Hampton, in collaboration with stylist Andrea Rose, is styling the wardrobe for the showcase. Each styled look – edgy streetwear, with hip hop influence and subtle nods to Indigenous design – will have a colour story that is true to the choreographers’ visons for the performances, the music, and at times, the communities the youth call home.

Joining the 250 Indigenous students from 13 communities across Canada are special guest performers:

  • Anishinaabe DJ and producer Boogey the Beat
  • Mohawk singer-songwriter Logan Staats, an Indigenous Music Award Winner for his chart-topping single “The Lucky Ones”
  • Mattmac, 2022 Canada’s Walk of Fame Emerging Musician Program Grand Prize Winner

Before the curtain rises, OLI will host a special VIP Reception with George Stroumboulopoulos as Emcee,  opening remarks by former Governor General of Canada The Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean and a keynote speech presented by the Honourable Jody Wilson-Raybould, Former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada abd best selling author.

Local students can catch the first performance on Friday, May 12th at 10:30 am.  The general public are invited to purchase tickets for the second show on Saturday, May 13th at 7:30 pm as well as for the VIP reception.
