NDP government says disclosure could harm integrity of selection process
Manitoba Hydro won’t reveal the identities of the companies under consideration to build a series of proposed Indigenous-led wind farms — even as some of those companies have identified themselves.
The provincial Crown corporation won’t even reveal how many companies it deemed eligible to submit proposals to build these wind farms, which Hydro is relying upon to generate 600 megawatts of electricity.
Manitoba Hydro issued a formal search in 2025 for companies qualified to build wind farms. The projects must be at least 51 per cent Indigenous-owned under a program announced by the province’s NDP government in 2024.
