RE:             Official Announcement of the MNBC ‘2016’ Métis Nation Governing Assembly and

Notice of Resolution Submissions

The Métis Nation British Columbia hereby serves official notice to all MNGA members that the

Métis Nation Governing Assembly will convene March 12th & 13th, 2016 at the Hilton Vancouver Airport Hotel, located at 5911 Minoru BLVD, Richmond, BC. The Assembly will begin at 8:30 AM on March 12th.

In accordance with the MNGA Act (Article 3) and the MNBC Constitution (section 29 and 29.1),

MNGA members are defined as followed;

ARTICLE 3 – Composition of the Métis Nation Governing Assembly ‐ 3.0 In this Act:

  • The MNGA shall be composed of:
  1. The MNBC Executive as represented by the President, Vice‐President, Treasurer, Secretary; plus the Regional Directors, Métis Women of British Columbia Chairperson and BCUMYC Chairperson; and
  2. The Presidents of the Chartered Communities of the MNBC.
  • In the event a Community President is unable to attend a General Assembly, the Community’s Vice‐President may represent that Community.
  • All MNGA voting delegates must be registered with the Métis Nation British Columbia Central Registry in accordance with the Métis Nation British Columbia Citizenship Act http://mnbc.ca/overview/governance.asp

Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) is recognized by the provincial and federal governments and the Métis National Council as the official governing organization in the province of British Columbia, representing nearly 12,000 provincially registered Métis citizens and a majority population of nearly 70,000 self-identified Métis people.

Call for Proposed Resolutions

Any Proposed Resolutions for First Reading at the MNGA, must be submitted by a “MNGA MEMBER” (as defined).

Please submit all proposed resolutions to the MNGA Clerk‐MNBC CEO Dale Drown, no later than 4:30PM January 22nd, 2016. Please see enclosed for a Resolution template to assist. To submit your resolutions please send c/o Tracey Thornhill via Email at traceyt@mnbc.ca or fax: 778‐571‐9402. If sending by mail please send to #103 – 5668 192nd Street, Surrey, BC V3S 2V7.

Travel days

Travel day for MNGA members will be Friday March 11th and Sunday March 13th pending distance and method of travel.
