MP calls for audit of federal funding of MMIWG projects – APTN News
Conservative MP Billy Morin is requesting that federal auditor general Karen Hogan audit the money the federal government spends to “address Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ People.”
According to a May 8 letter to Hogan’s office, the audit would include “funding associated with the National Inquiry’s Calls for Justice, the Federal Pathway, the National Action Plan, and related family, survivor, safety, justice, prevention, and implementation initiatives.”
National Indigenous organizations that represent women across the country have been scrutinized recently over their budgets and what they do with the million dollars of federal money they get each year.
