NCTR’s Spring 2025 Newsletter – NCTR

Warm greetings from the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR). As spring breathes new life into the world around us, we embrace this season of hope and renewal. The past few months have been busy, marked by significant progress alongside considerable challenges.

Like the emerging buds of spring, our vision for a new, permanent home for the NCTR is blossoming. We’ve made exciting strides in planning and development, and thanks to a generous gift from Canada Life and Power Corporation earlier this month, we’re even closer to realizing this crucial space, which will stand as a testament to the enduring strength of Survivors and a place where their truths will be honoured and safeguarded for generations.

While we look forward with anticipation, we must also acknowledge the difficult realities we face. While our core funding remains stable, recent reductions in special project funding have impacted vital initiatives like the search for missing children. These funding challenges are compounded by the persistent threat of denialism, which continues to undermine efforts to acknowledge our country’s past and to advance the work of reconciliation.
