(June 28, 2018 – Iqaluit, Nunavut) Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI) President Aluki Kotierk is pleased to put out a call for Nunavut Inuit students to apply for one of two scholarships administered through the recently established Nunavut Tunngavik Foundation (NTF). NTF aims to award 450 scholarships.
“Nunavut Tunngavik Foundation’s top priority is to support Inuit students advancing their formal education.” said Kotierk.
The NTF Scholarship Programs will open on July 1, 2018 and close on August 31, 2018 at 5pm Central.
Students will be eligible to apply for the following Scholarship Programs:
- Post-Secondary Scholarship – 200 students will be eligible for $2500 if they are enrolled at an accredited institution offering either a post-secondary degree program, a two-year diploma program or a one-year preparatory program leading to a post-secondary program; or,
- Skills and Employment Advancement Scholarship – 250 students will be eligible for $1000 if they are enrolled in upgrading, Path to Adult Secondary School (P.A.S.S.), Adult Basic Education (A.B.E.), Foundations, employment training, or trades programs, at a minimum of four weeks.
The NTF was created by NTI to manage surplus funds from the Common Experience Payment Fund of the Residential School Settlement Agreement.
