In advance of the Community Hearing scheduled for December 4-6th 2017, President Dawn Harvard welcomes survivors and family members travelling to Thunder Bay to testify before the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. ONWA has released a schedule of supports available during the Community Hearing in Thunder Bay, which will be hosted at the ONWA Thunder Bay offices at 380 Ray Boulevard.
“I hope that survivors and family members who have gathered in Thunder Bay to participate in the National Inquiry feel welcome and supported,” said President Dawn Harvard, “the Ontario Native Women’s Association has been working in partnership with service providers in to provide supports to survivors and family members in Thunder Bay, if they choose to testify during the Community Hearing or not.”
A shuttle will be available to ONWA to the Best Western Plus NorWester Hotel & Conference Centre (2080 Hwy 61, Thunder Bay) where the Community Hearings are taking place. Throughout the Community Hearing, service providers from Thunder Bay will be working in partnership to ensure that survivors and family members have access to appropriate community building, healing support, and ceremony. These supports are available to all survivors and family members in Thunder Bay.
