Recruitment begins for PLATO Testing’s Indigenous Software Tester Training Program in Vancouver and Kamloops

Press Release

Vancouver & Kamloops  – Recruitment efforts are underway in Vancouver, and Kamloops for the Indigenous Software Tester Training Program being delivered by PLATO Testing. The train-and-employ model offered by PLATO provides First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people the opportunity to build a career in the growing IT sector, while providing corporate Canada partners a meaningful path toward economic reconciliation.

The PLATO train-and-employ model provides five months of in-class training on the fundamentals of software testing, followed by a three-month internship of hands-on training with one of PLATO’s corporate partners. Following the eight months of training, successful graduates are guaranteed a full-time, well-paying job with the IT services firm.

The course in Vancouver and Kamloops will feature a hybrid-virtual delivery where students participate in-person, with an instructor located in one city and subject matter experts in each to help support the students through the training. A similar delivery method has twice been successful in classes held in Sault Ste. Marie and Regina.

“This will be our fourth PLATO training course being held in Vancouver and our first in Kamloops,” says PLATO CEO and Founder Keith McIntosh. “We’ve trained a great group of folks in Vancouver and now have a strong team of software testers in the city. We’re really excited about the opportunity to add Kamloops into our family of training locations. We’ve got a great corporate partner in the region and are looking forward to introducing the PLATO model.”

Recognized by the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business, PLATO Testing is demonstrating the power of person-to-person reconciliation. Its mission to grow Indigenous participation in the technology sector has a profound impact on the people, families, and communities in and around the communities it calls home including Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Regina, Sault Ste. Marie, Toronto, Miramichi, and Fredericton.

Interested members of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities in Vancouver, Kamloops, and surrounding areas can visit the PLATO Testing website for more information about the training and to apply: www.platotesting.com/vancouver-kamloops.
