Residents of Saskatoon have been given a power that traditionally rested with the city’s mayor.
Citizens have been asked to help name the city’s new north commuter bridge to honour the legacy of Indigenous people, in line with the calls to action issued by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission into residential schools. There seems little doubt the process will produce a name that makes sense and carries relevance.
Mayor Charlie Clark says the names adorning city infrastructure poorly reflect the complete history of Saskatoon.
That’s a nice way of putting it.
