TIMMINS – Julie Cyr isn’t sure why Maggie Leclair doesn’t have a headstone at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery.
It could be that a wooden cross has disintegrated since her 1965 burial. It could be that there simply weren’t any funds to buy the stone.
In any case, Cyr, who is Leclair’s great-great-great-grandniece, is looking to rectify the situation.
“I’ve known for many years now that she hasn’t had a stone, but I haven’t moved forward on trying to get her one until just recently,” said Cyr.
“I grew up listening to stories of Maggie. When I was a kid, my grandmother, who would have been Maggie’s great-niece, and who knew Maggie back when she was a girl and through most of her youth growing up, she used to share lots of stories of Maggie.”
